Several of us have tried to get InstantCake to work, but without success. We're stuck at the Welcome! Powering up... screen and the system continuously reboots each minute.

This may be due to selecting a drive that simply doesn't work properly with the TiVo.

For those of you who have been successful, would you please post to this thread which manufacturer, the exact model disk drive you've used, its capacity, and in which TiVo? This will then become a very valuable reference for those who are attempting to upgrade their system.

If everything has gone completely proper with your InstantCake bake, and you cannot get a particular drive to work after double-checking all of your work, you may also post here drives to avoid!

THANKS!

Failed: Seagate ST3300831A, 300GB in HUMAX DRT-400

I have just run InstantCake and PTVnet on a Maxtor 6Y200P 200GB drive for a Philips DSR7000 (arriving w/no drive from *ahem*... another company).

I'll post if it works or not.

Got the Maxtor working, no problems. First and only PTVnet and InstantCake install worked, installed drive, booted, rebooted itself, booted again all the way up and worked fine!
