Question on "Clear and Delete" after InstantCake

I have a Phillips HDR-112 (also marked PTV-100) that had it's drive take an immediate turn to the South a couple weeks ago. I purchased InstantCake and an 80GB Maxtor drive. Reading thru the forums made me use a P4 at work to bake the drive, all went well. EXCEPT, I think I forgot to do the "Clear and Delte All" step. When I got through with the setup, I was so jazzed at getting my TiVo back after two weeks of forced, prisoner-abuse like viewing of normal TV, I jumped into grabbing On-Demand shows that are going away this weekend. Want to see how much you love TiVo? Unplug yours for a few days, see if you would cut your own hands off to get back to it.

Anyways, installed the 80GB drive and system info shows 25 hours at Best setting which is what I do my recordings. I dumped 4 episodes of Deadwood onto it from On-Demand channel (manual recording one hour each) and when trying to do a 5th it tells me the drive is out of space and may have to delete stuff. I have dealt with the "may" part before and just decided to protect the others by marking to Save until I Delete, when I got to the fourth, it told me it would have to stop recording the current one being recorded for lack of space.

Is that what the "Clear and Delete All" would have done - made the TiVo recognize all the free space? I have no other recordings that I have made and no suggested recordings show, wondering where the drive space is?

Is it possible there is some other issue others have seen?

Clear and delete everything is not something you need to do on your TiVo model. Not exactly sure what the problem you are encountering is, but it sounds like you've verified that you have the correct amount of recording capacity. Perhaps your season pass options are not set up to keep all episodes of the particular program you are attempting to record, or perhaps your unit has other content on it as well, and the space is already accounted for - chances are its something related to your preferences, settings or season pass options, so I'd look into that...

Time and Tide will clear all problems of mankind. I left town for the weekend all horked off about this situation, along with problems with the cable company - Boo cable meanies!

I return Sunday to find 30 TiVo suggested recordings, and as I scanned and deleted some of them, I decided to try another recording of my own - no longer get the drive space error. It seems to have accepted that it has a bigger belly now and I can feed it more shows.

I am all happiness and joy now, just pray my particular gremlin doesn't raise its ugly head again. If anyone has, or previously has had this problem, I'd be interested to find out.

Also, I am not sure if anyone else has had a question concerning the "Clear and Delete Everything", it was right in the on-screen directions while "baking". I am sure it wouldn't hurt to do it, but it might be noted that it is not necessary on certain models. Mine is a Phillips marked HDR112 and also PTV100 on the sticker on the back.
