Our friends over at Engadget have posted a full unboxing and hands-on sneak peek of the Nero LiquidTV , which uses the TiVo interface to record shows onto your PC. Personally, I love the relatively low price point and flexibility of the device. What do you think? Will you check out one of these, or pass it up?

1st off I am new to Tivos. I got a Philips Series 1 Tivo with 2 hard drives in it (60gb & 120gb). The bearings are going out of the 60gb (very loud). Is there a way to go back to a single drive unit with what I have? What I'm hoping I can do is make the unit a single drive unit using the 60gb system. Then copy/Ghost the 60gb to the 120gb an just keep the 60gb as a backup.

I have a Direc TV Tivo R-10 and every 2 days I lose the signal and the box records zip. I've have called Direc Tv and they tell me that since Direc TV and Tivo have severed their relationship, I have to get thier (Direc TV DVR) and stop using my Tivo DVR. I love my Tivo & don't want to switch. I am just resetting the Tivo, it works for 2 days, then loses the signal. Its the typ that can record two (2) channels. Is there something anything I can do to work around this signal problem?

I attempted to add a second drive to my Sony SVR2000 using the Hinsdale Upgrade Configuration #1. It is just running mfsadd -r 4 -x /dev/hdc /dfv/hdd With the old A drive at secondary master and the new B drive in secondary slave. It completed fine reporting the ond and new recording times. However, after installing the drives in TiVo and powering up. I get "your recorder is starting up Please wait a moment" screen then the "Almost there - a few more seconds please" screen. Then a few flashes and back to "Your recorder is starting..........." After removing the new Drive B and attempting to run using Drive A only - problem is still present. Cable and drive test good, Help please!

TiVo coming to PC via Nero software

http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/28/tivo-coming-to-pc-via-nero-software/ I wasn't sure where to put this - its really a crossing of borders. Tivo has not traditionally made money on the hardware - the bulk of the profit (such as it is) has been from the service. This would seem, in principle to be good for Tivo and good for those of us who like and are used to the Tivo interface.
TiVo has just announced an agreement with multimedia software provider Nero AG that will bring its familiar interface and feature set to the PC. According to the joint announcement made today, Nero will embed the TiVo experience in its next generation of software, allowing the millions of us who rely on USB dongles for our TV to finally join the exclusive realm of Series1, 2, and 3 owners. Plus, as Zatz Not Funny! points out , Nero's international presence should help spread TiVo to the far corners of the Earth like some digital Happy Meal. Hopefully this new PC timeshifting solution -- release window: unknown -- will also convince other purveyors of home theater-only hardware-based services to finally bring their wares to the desktop. Yes, we're looking at you, Sling .
OK so new at this, but I do believe I have tried absolutelye everything. I have tried making iso disc (at least 20 of them) using about every program I an find, it still will not boot from disc. I can boot from my Win XP disc, so it's not BIOS settings etc. I have confirmed that my CD-RW is the primary master. New IDE drive is primary slave. These confirmed in bios. I either get 'DISC FAILURE, PLEASE LOAD BOOTABLE DISK' (etc) failure, or it freezes on 'BOOTING FROM DISC' with no further activity... Can someone PLEASE help me, obviously I am missing something, but this is driving me mad. Thanks in advance....

using RCA DVR80 without Tivo service?

Hello I bought an RCA DVR80 Tivo off ebay for $20 in the hopes i could use it to record my regular tv shows, like a VCR. I don't have / don't subscribe to the Tivo service and can't really afford to right now. Is there anyway to just use the DVR80 without Tivo service? Possibly some sorta hack or mod available? When I plug it in, it says trying to find Satellite and Satellite Info, but I do not have Satellite, only regular cable tv. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

I have a tivo series 2 that my brother-in-law replaced the hard drive in. The tivo was constantly freezing up so we finally ordered the tivo replacement drive and replaced it. Well now we are having another problem, the tivo keeps rebooting itself constantly. I had never seen this happen before the drive was replaced but my husand said it started doing that about 2 weeks before we replaced the drive. Is it more likely that it is a bad drive or that the power supply needs to be replaced too? Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't know anything about what exactly you can do with the Series 3 or the Tivo HD without paying the monthly fee. Can you record programs at all doing that? (by setting up the recordings manually; specifiying a start/stop time for each program) oh and BTW does the Tivo HD have Composite video (yellow plug only) AND RF (like a Coaxial post) output? or ONLY High Definition type outputs? .

OK I need to know the following: Can a Series 1 or 2 Tivo record programs if you are NOT paying the monthly service charge? Someone correct me if this is not correct ;) From what I've read so far, Series 1 Tivos CAN record programs (where you setup manually the start/stop times) BUT only certain models? (Which models?) Or maybe only Series 1s with "BASIC Service"? Anyone know? :) For Series 2 Tivos, I've been getting mixed answers about whether or not they can record programs at ALL with no monthly service charge (manually setting the start/stop times that is). One person said he had a Series 2 Tivo which he used to record programming with no monthly charge by setting up the times manually. Other people have said that a Series 2 Tivo with no monthly service is a doorstop and can't record anything at ALL ;) SO who is right? O_O .

I used a Belkin model FSD7050 Wireless G USB Network Adapter and a Linksys model WUSB54GV2 Wireless-g Network Adapter but no luck. I removed WEP encryption from the wireless setup on the router, added MAC address to router, then I tried adding a static reservation address for each MAC address of the 2 USB G wireless devices but nothing. I even tried plugging both USB devices at the same time, but nothing. I rebooted after each attempt. Tivo is behaving as if there is not network USB support.
Hello everyone... We are moving, so I guess it's time to upgrade to DirecTV HD. However, they don't have a box with Tivo. We really like Tivo. So my questions for the group are are: Are there no HD Tivo boxes that are compatible with DirecTV (not just now - but with all the channels they are adding? I PTVUpgraded have my current DirecTV receiver. I really like the web interface, and the ability to extract and download shows for later viewing is important. In addition, I have a couple hundred hours of disk space. Do I have to give all that up to move to HD? I am just not so sure it's worth it.....
