MRV not working >< Static IP

So I've successfully changed one of my series 2 Dtivos (running 6.2) from dhcp to a static ip address because I was getting tired of my router randomly re-addressing my tivos. The only problem is that, for some reason, my Tivo Desktop server is not seeing my tivo's new address. I know it is locked onto my LAN at the address that I gave it because I can easily call up tivowebplus and/or telnet to it, but I cannot seem to get the tivo desktop server to see it- I am getting Tivo Name = (unknown) address in the Tivo Server Properties / Access Control listing. Obviously, I cannot utilize MRV until the Tivo server and more importantly, the Tivo transfer service recognizes the address. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Philip

I'm a total newbie, but I've owed the PTVUpgrade on my Series 1 for over two years. 9 times out of 10, I get an "Error Failed to Connect" when using TyTools. When I do get the Now Showing list and I try to extract a show, I never get more than 80% extracted before it freezes. Can anyone help?

USB network adaptor for older bakes?

Hello, In December of 2005 I upgraded my Phillips 704 Directvo with InstantCake for Series2 DirecTiVo Units (6.2). I had a Netgear FA120 USB connecter. All was fine and dandy. About 14 months ago we moved from Portland to Seattle and in the move the Netgear went missing. I've been using the Directivo without a network connection until today when I picked up a Trend Net TU2-ET100 from my local Radio Shack, plugged it into my Directvo, and into my network. The 100 MPS light lights up but not the link light. Rebooted several times and tried both ports to no avail. I see that there are adaptors that are compatabile for drives baked after Decemeber of 06 but what about one as old as mine? Short of a rebake are there any adaptors that will plug and play? It appears the Netgears are unavailable. If I've missed where this has been addressed in the forum already please forgive me. Thanks for any assistance! David

I'm looking for some help getting an IP address on my hr10-250. I using a copy of my original drive so I can always go back to a clean copy of 6.3f if needed. In addition, I'm using a Linksys USB200M v2. I initially had trouble with PTVnet 6.x not installing and generating the "no such file or directory" when attempting to set the flags. I found several posts regarding this, and after manually creating the init directory, and using the "force" option to run the script, everything seemed to install. After booting my receiver, I now have link lights on my Linksys adapter, but I do get an address. I've scanned my network using AngryIP to verify this. I also do not have any unaccounted for entries in my DHCP clients table. For troubleshooting purposes, I have tried the USB200M in a laptop where it does get an address and works perfectly. I've read many posts here where people have this working, so clearly I'm overlooking something or doing something wrong. I was going to purchase InstantCake, but InstantCake is also at 6.3f so I don't see what that would gain. Any thoughts from anyone are appreciated. Thanks

I can still telnet in and get programs with tytools but no hackman. I really don't want to re cake the drive as I'll loose all my programs. Tips on reinstalling hackman? I see there's a new version so maybe I can install that? It's a DirecTivo HDVR2 (Hughes) HALP!!!

Will my plan work?

A friend gave me his old DirecTV RCA DVR80. Since I don't have a regular phone line (we only use cell phones), I knew from the start I would have to hack it. So I did lots of research, and before I spend any money, I want to get the forums advice (the best forum I found so far). Will this plan work: 1. Use PTVnet and InstantCake on 120 GB hard drive I have laying around. 2. Buy and use Linksys USB200M v.2 10/100 Ethernet USB adapter. 3. Connect Linksys USB adapter to a Linksys wireless hub. Configure wireless hub to be on existing wireless network. 4. Connect to Time Warner cable (I don't have DirecTV's service). Do you guys see any problems with this? Any possible trouble spots? My goal right now is to get updates over the internet. My long term goal is to record some shows on DVD's that I can use at work, but I'll save that for another day.

I am new to this and am having issues getting my Trendnet USB adapter working. I have a HR10-250 version 6.3 with PTVNET HD 6.3. I purchased the Trendnet adapter from DRV Upgrade with my PVT software. I installed the software on my drive, reinstalled the drive, connected the Trendnet adapter to my HR10-250, and ran a wire to my router. I powered up the Tivo and all of the channels are working. On the Trendnet adapter only the 100Mbs light comes on, and the Link light is off. I checked my router DHCP client list and it does not see the Tivo. I amnot sure if the Tivo is not connecting to the Trendnet, or if the router is not finding the Tivo. Can someone help me understand how to gett hese talking?

I upgraded a 240040 Series2 Tivo using instantcake to a 250G drive. I seem to have lost my ability to stream music and photos from my PC. My computer is visible in the list of option on the Tivo screen yet it gives me a message indicating the server is busy. Also, the Tivo PLUS software that I used to successfully download divx files to the Tivo from my PC does not work so well. When the divx file is finished downloading the Tivo loses it somehow. I can view the movie while downloading with no trouble and when I do it seems to stay-put on the Tivo. This disappearing divx issue has happened many times. Based on the 2 problems i am having I can only figure the instantcake software is missing code that I had on the original HD. ??? - Bruce

Please tell me if these are supported or where I can find the latest list of supported USB adapters. ================================ I rebuilt my 2 120GB Quantum drives with IntantCake after problem with power supply and Tivo came back to lilfe. I used a PC power supply to power the drives and left original power supply in place. Rebuilt drives which came up without a problem. Then purchased the PTVnet and run on the same drives, selected the USB 2.0 option and then tried to connect but no luck. I used a Belkin model FSD7050 Wireless G USB Network Adapter and a Linksys model WUSB54GV2 Wireless-g Network Adapter but no luck. I removed WEP encryption from the wireless setup on the router, added MAC address to router, then I tried adding a static reservation address for each MAC address of the 2 USB G wireless devices but nothing. I even tried plugging both USB devices at the same time, but nothing. I rebooted after each attempt. Tivo is behaving as if there is not network USB support. Is there any utility to access or make the drive visible? or is it that the DVR use a different OS, and thereby a different file-system, perhaps Linux? I have an external hard drive connected through an external USB to my DishNetwork HD-DVR receiver. On first connect, the receiver had re-formatted the drive for use with it. When I connect it to my computer, it does not show the drive, however the drive is indicated to be connected in my system devices. Any comments towards this will be helpful. Thanks.

I had no issues with using the software, no errors etc. Put the new hard drive in the Tivo and forgot to put the power supply to it but figured out with the issue was after reading thru the forums. I read that the Welcome Powering up screen isn't part of the harddrive so I realized it wasn't working and connected the power supply to the drive worked much better then! Network was working everything great! Wonderful software and instructions. Didn't have the local channels and I again read the forums, found the answer and was able to fix that with a visit to Directv's web site. I installed superpatch 6.2a thru FTP. No issues no error messages. Music and Photos show up and can access my photo's on my laptop. Everything is great. I can actually see my stand alone Tivo that is in my office.
I have spent more time than I would like to admit with this issue, but my router does not support static dhcp without a third party firmware upgrade (Linksys) and I have three hacked DTV tivos, one hacked using ptvupgrade and two using the zipper. Angry IP scanner only shows the ip address and mac address with NA as the hostname and computer name. My DHCP Client table on the router only shows the Tivo serial number . How can i get IP scanner or the DHCP Client table to display the name of the dvr that I choose? I see that a file called /var/tmp/dhclient.eth0.conf is used to start /sbin/dhclient but when I edit it and reboot, it get reset to the same serial number host-name as before. I have also added this to my rc.sysinit.author. ##### hostname master export HOSTNAME=master ###### and rebooted but it made no difference. master is the name I want to assign to the Tivo. I also added this to my hosts file master-TiVo# cat hosts # Copyright (c) 2001 TiVo Inc. 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.0.1 master master-TiVo# Any help will be much appreciated!

OK, just got back my Hughes HDVR2, with its snazzy new upgraded Hard Drive and PTVnet. So far, so good. I've accessed the Tivo from a desktop computer and it looks great. My question is this : how do I access REMOTELY, from another location not inside my home network? If I'm travelling, I want to be able to log on to this thing and adjust/check things. Where do I start? Thanks, Gene
