home media server on linux?

I have the Tivo media desktop software for Windows and it allows me to use my Windows machine as a music server. I would like to use a Linux system to serve my mp3s instead. Does anyone know if there are any applications available to run a Tivo home media server on Linux? Thanks, Mike

Just noticed this on PVRwire (which sadly is shutting down tomorrow) - you can record HD TV straight onto your Mac: http://www.pvrwire.com/2007/01/15/rec...

SageTV coming to Mac OS X?

The CTO/Founder of SageTV recently posted a thread on the SageTV forums asking for beta testers for SageTV on Mac OS X. If this comes to pass, this could be good news for Mac owners. SageTV is already available for Windows and Linux. In addition, if they also port the SageTV Placeshifter , then those Mac folks wanting to build their own DVR with 'slinging' capability will be in luck.

Step By Step Instructions for TyServer?

I just installed the new drive with PVNet installed and I want to download converted videos to my PSP. I know nothing about Linux, so I need step by step instructions for installing TYSERVER or is it installed already. Most of the information I have found is one part here, the other part here etc. I mean I know nothing about installing scripts on a Linux machine. I have a good knowledge of telnet and networking. Thanks and please do not be too harsh on a virgin user!
