I have a Dish 625 DVR. It controls the TV in the Family room (Tv1) and the TV in the Bedroom (Tv2). We generally watch TV1 until 9pm and then watch TV2 (at bed time, etc) Now if I want to record a show and it is on at say 7pm, I want to record it on the TV not being watched (i.e. TV2). If the Program is after say 9pm, I want to make it record on TV1. How can I set which TV to record a program on when setting up the recorder? Can I tell the system to move a timer to a different TV after it is set up? I believe there is a Default setting I can change, but I want to control each new timer based on when the program airs.

I have been a DirecTV subscriber for years with a variety of Series II DirecTiVO units. Now my family has gone out and switched to Dish Network. Are there hacks for the Dish Network DVR? Can the USB port support a network interface like a hacked TiVO?

I don't know how but my Hackman took a dump. It was working fine for MONTHS and then all of a sudden... nothing. I wasn't mucking around in there at all. I can still telnet in and get programs with tytools but no hackman. I really don't want to re cake the drive as I'll loose all my programs. Tips on reinstalling hackman? I see there's a new version so maybe I can install that? It's a DirecTivo HDVR2 (Hughes) HALP!!!

I bought a house that previously used dish netwok tv--so I now own (I guess?) a couple dish receivers and a box and all the cable that ran between them and my house. I dismantled it since the cable ran in my gutters and was helping to clog them. I'll never use dish tv but I figure there must be some value in this hardware. Any suggestions on what to do with it? Do I needto supply more info--such as all the model nos on the box? It looked like a nice system. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi, Just recieved a used 7200 from in-law who upgraded to HD. Can I still use this DVR? It has a yellow card inserted in the back. I currently use a standard non-dvr in one room, and a 501 in another room. Obviously I like the 501 and 7200 due to the no-fee grandfathering by Dishnetwork. Please advise on how to proceed... Thanks, X5

To use these codes. First turn the dishplayer off. Wait for the green led on the front of the unit to stop flashing then hit the options button. Then type in the code. Finally power the unit back on. If you're successful you will see the lights on the unit flash. Some users find that hiting the options button more than once helps ensure you get it to work. Some of these codes you may not want to use on your dishplayer. Particulary the ones that reset or force software downloads of the unit. To make it easy to identify them I've noted the colors of the ones that won't create any issues or long periods of unusability with Green and the ones that will result in downtime and should only be used if really needed in Red . 201 Displays information on the iNews channel (channel 201) information downloads.

I'd like to know if anyone has been successfully been able to copy the recordings from a hard-drive? Is there any utility to access or make the drive visible? or is it that the DVR use a different OS, and thereby a different file-system, perhaps Linux? I have an external hard drive connected through an external USB to my DishNetwork HD-DVR receiver. On first connect, the receiver had re-formatted the drive for use with it. When I connect it to my computer, it does not show the drive, however the drive is indicated to be connected in my system devices. Any comments towards this will be helpful. Thanks.

Stand Alone DVR with Dish Network?

I just got Dish Network on Saturday. I have a Toshiba DVR that I used with my old Time Warner Cable connection. I set up the DVR as directed, and it is not recording any signal - just snow. I have a 4 TV, 2 box install, and the TV I set the DVR up on does not have one of the boxes. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Or, as I fear, is this 3rd party DVR now useless within the Dish Network. Thanks

...after a year of not having their service. The rep asked why I cancelled service with them, and I replied (with as much courtesy as I could), "Because you pissed me off." I let him continue with the list of current offers and such. "So, are you ready to sign up?" I started asking questions regarding such things as MRV and HMO, which he apparently knew nothing about. He said that TiVos are compatible with Dish Network, and that I could use TiVos with their service; I replied that I had four Direc TiVos. Needless to say, I didn't accept the offer to sign up. He said that the reconnect fee would be waived should I ever decide to start service again...whoopee! In closing with him, I told him to come visit this bulletin board and read about some cool things. Who knows? Maybe we'll actually see some threads about Dish DVRs, since this is a "DVR" board and not just a "TiVo" one.
