Has any one had recent issues whith DirectTv Tivo season pass manager not working properly. I have two directTV tivos with hacked 6.2-01-2-235 software. With the start of the fall 2008 season we missed shows that where in the season pass manager. Ex: House. We had to add the shows even though they where already in the season pass manager. Season pass manager added the shows with the exact same name as though they where not there. I know my software is out of date but I have had no issues other than Daylight savings time changes. Tivos are never plugged into the phone.

I checked the cdrom and found a _image folder but not a .image folder. Anybody got any ideas what I have done wrong? By the way my TIVO is stuck on the Powering Up screen forever now! MUST HAVE TIVO!!!!!!

Swap tuners?

Does anyone know if DirecTV has any plans to fix the inability to swap tuners while watching live TV on the HR20 DVR's? The current "workaround" is to record a program on each tuner, then use the list to swap between them. All the other competitors (Comcast, TiVo, Dish network, etc) have tuner swap, how can DirecTV not offer this feature? I'm sure their advertisers have something to do with this shortcoming. The only reason I keep DirecTV is for NFL Sunday ticket. If not for the ticket, I'd be using a TiVo series 3 and whatever services is the least expensive. If anyone has any input on this, please let me know, thanks!

I have been researching so much my head hurts! Here's my quandry. I want to be able to stream audio/video from my satelite sys. (directv) to other parts of the house, but mainly have the abiltity to copy or record TV programs. I'm a big race fan and have on numerous occasions wished I could transfer recorded races from my DVR (directv) to my computer, to be later burned to a cd or dvd. I have a great entertainment system that is all set for Hi Def. and 5.1 audio. I would like to be able to stream music, but this is not my primary need. I just need to know what I need to accomplish the above. Slingbox, appletv, etc.? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. PS. I am computer savvy, as I have built my last 3 systems. My present system is running Vista Ultimate (yes, I love it!) with a dual core processor and tons of ram, HD space, etc.

Basic steps in order to hack? Please?

Could some one just list in order the steps to get movies off of a Samsung SIR 4080r? I don't need an explanation for each step as there seems to be great articles for each. My problem is that each time I'm reading an article, it assumes I've already done a step. I would like to find the first step and start from there without missing any steps. I was always afraid in the past to attempt this as it was my only receiver and I didn't want to mess it up. I have now upgraded and have this receiver full of movies that I would hate to lose, but if I messed it up, not a huge deal. I have a pretty good understanding of computers, networking, FTP etc and have the time to fool around with these things. I've searched and read a lot while researching this and apologize if I've missed the answer to my question. Thanks

What TV Service Is My Best Option?

I'm getting to a point now where I need to consider getting TV service. I'm not much of a TV watcher, but I do like Adult Swim, the Travel Channel, IFC, and some other channels. I'm not overly concerned with HD content but I would like most of the "standard" channels, and a DVR feature is a must. I just can't be home at certain times just to watch a certain show, you know how that goes - busy, busy, busy. I'm leaning towards DirecTV, my family's had good luck with it so far and they are recommending it to me. It also features the channels I want to watch. The "Plus DVR" package looks to be what I would pick. I really don't need the extra channels it offers over the Choice package, but I want the DVR option. I'm not very familiar with which DVR receiver option to choose. Can anyone help me? Anything I should be aware of with the setup/installation process?

Hello from Maine, I have the DirectTV DVR R15, I am a computer tech and was simply curious about transferring my recordings from the DVR's hard drive to my computer's hard drive, to later convert to DVD. But It sure didn't work. So I fired up Google and here I am with annoying noobi-Q's, please be kind and give me a clue I am to understand that the R15 is sux, can not be "upgraded" or "hacked" at all. I am happy to buy a different DVR, what model is the best? I want to be able to : 1. Copy my recordings to my computer. 2. Put in a big hard drive. What DirectTV DVR is ideal for this? Thank you, Craig

I know the USB is disabled on the R10 via EPROM, but could I remove the R10's HD and put it in my PC and copy the movies off of it? I know, different file systems and all, but is their a boot CD with tools to do this? I just want to get the files off in a quicker way than playing and burning them. Muchos grassyass

I've had PTVnet (6.2) and InstantCake (6.2) working great on my upgraded HUGHES-DVR40 DirecTiVo Unit for years with no problems. It has never been connected to a phone line since upgrading. I asked DirecTV to upgrade my programming package yesterday, and they made the change over the satellite . Could this change by DirecTV have screwed up PTVnet or InstantCake? I now get all the new channels I'm supposed to, and I'm watching TV through the functioning DVR. I can still use the TivoWebPlus (v1.2.1) interface, and I can watch previously recorded shows. However, now it says 'Please activate your DVR service' (Message #81) when I try to record. System Info says: Backdoors: ENABLED! Boat-anchor mode: TRUE! DIRECTV Account Status: Account Closed Before I call DirecTV back, I need to know if you think they just didn't turn DVR services on properly, or if PTVnet or InstantCake is conflicting / disabled by them / or worse? Thanks!

Greetings all! I've looked high and low for information on a HDVR2 that was given to me by a friend with no card in the slot in the front. It was dying (suspect bad hard drive) which is why it was shelved in the first place. I've read numerous threads on replacing the hard drive with Instant Cake, etc but I'm really interested in simply using the box as a glorified VCR for Over the Air Programming without a subscription. The two or three shows I'm interested in are always at the same time and available locally over broadcast. Really something as simple as VCR functionality is all I need, but I can't find any information to tell me if I'm on the right track. I'd be comfortable replacing the drive or loading something specifically on the unit, but would like confirmation that this should be possible without the 'okay' from the satellite provider. Thanks in advance! -Sam

I have an "instantcake" hacked HR10-250(6.3c). The HR10-250 continually tries to upgrade without success. Do I need a current instantcake version of the software to be able for directv to upgrade to the latest version (i belive 6.3f) By the way my system rebots a lot for the last week , today it has rebotted 4 times already. Is this related to the above problem?
