1 line into dvr but need dual capabilities.. more complex then basic changes

Hi guys, About 6 months ago i talked my father into changing from cablevision to directv. When the installer came to the house there were a few reasons (mostly our reasons not installer) that he had to use the existing lines that the cable company had hooked up to connect to 2 of the tvs in the house. Im not sure but possibly 1 of those lines was ran into the receiver Im referring to in this thread.. This was a standard receiver from directv... Well for Christmas I bought my father a directv non HD dvr for his "man cave". Basically the setup is there are 5 receivers hooked up throughout the house. The 1 in my room from day 1 was an HD DVR. This has 2 lines going into it from the dish on the roof. That dish has 2 lines also running directly into the basement where it hits the mini multi switch. Heres where the problem begins. The line running from the output of the switch going into my fathers man cave is in a spot where only 1 line can fit. Meaning I cannot just run another line from the switch into the back...

Motorola dct6412 III not deleting

Hey Guys, Here's the deal. I have a motorola dct6412 III that I found in a house I was cleaning out. I hooked it up to my tv and I have a subscription to Cableone basic cable package. I was only using this for the dvr capability, but later found out it gives me the digital and HD channels. Its been working fine for about 8 months. But now when I delete any shows that I have recorded to free up memory space it deletes the show from the list but increases the percent of memory used. Im at about 80% full and fear when I delete to record more it will eventually say no memory left. Is there any way to fix this? And if its a factory reset, will it upload my info to the cable company alerting them of me using my dvr as appossed to renting theres and paying for the extra channels. Thanks in advance.

Somewhat mechanically (& digitally) inclined newbie looking for advice on how to copy my play lists from a dying DirectTV HR10-250, how to upgrade using DIY software, and how to network (activate the usb ports) on all 3 of my HR10-250's. Can anyone show me where to start?

I have Time Warner's HD DVR service, and I have a rather annoying problem. The machine always cuts off the the last minute or so of every show I record. Why does this happen, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Rebuilt TiVo wont change channels

Hi: My TiVo hard drive recently bit the dust so I replaced the drive and Caked it. I have a series 2 DVR from TiVo. Everything worked fine - I ran the guided setup and have downloaded all of the programming updates from TiVo. The only problem is TiVo only show me channel 3. It looks like it is changing channels, and even the program information banner changes to the correct information for that channel. But the net result is still channel 3. Similarly, if I set TiVo to record a specific program - the timing is right but the channel is always 3. I have checked and rechecked all of my cabling to the box. I am sending cable directly from the wall, before any other cable box, DVD or device of any kind. I am only left with the software to blame. Any ideas? Thanks.

Help with reinstall

I have lost telnet and tivowebplus. In January of 2007 I installed the ptvnet tool onto a series 2 samsung and actually made a backup copy of the tivo drive using an old 8gb quantum drive. Can someone help me locate the instructions on how to reload ptvnet (et al) onto my tivo? Is it easier just to image the backup copy onto the tivo drive? If so any write-ups on "how to"? kd

Newbie needs Help

I recently bought a Toshiba DVR, D-R410KU. Let me backtrack and state I have had a LITEON 5005 for the past four years without a problem. The burner part just failed so I bought the above mentioned device over the weekend to carry me over until I found a new liteon part to place in their DVR. My wife and I are High School history teachers and we use many cable shows to help us teach. I just tried to copy a Biography we had recorded to our Time Warner Box. It is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD, and we have had no trouble with it. When pressing record on the DVR remote a black rectangle appears in the picture removing about 50% of the picture. Our LITEON did not do this, or the person who sold it to me may have had a way to remove the protection. Is the problem in the DVR or the 8300HD box. When recording directly live off of a local station no rectangle is found. Both Time Warner and Toshiba were of no help, both stating it was the others problem. Any idea's Thanks, Paul
