InstantCake Help Needed

I just purchased InstantCake for Sony SAT-T60 (instantcake-sat-t60-TWP-3.5d.iso). All runs normally up until "Just hit <enter> and we'll begin baking your InstantCake!" Upon hitting <enter> I get this error message: /etc/rc.S: /cdrom/.live/bin/PTVbake: No such file or directory The environment is a PC I dedicate exclusively to formatting tivo drives. It worked fine running the previous version of InstantCake (instantcake-sat-t60-1[1]NR-3.5.0.iso) to format this same hard drive about a month ago and has not been run/altered since. Any assistance you can lend would be much appreciated. Thanks. -->

MRV not working >< Static IP

So I've successfully changed one of my series 2 Dtivos (running 6.2) from dhcp to a static ip address because I was getting tired of my router randomly re-addressing my tivos. The only problem is that, for some reason, my Tivo Desktop server is not seeing my tivo's new address. I know it is locked onto my LAN at the address that I gave it because I can easily call up tivowebplus and/or telnet to it, but I cannot seem to get the tivo desktop server to see it- I am getting Tivo Name = (unknown) address in the Tivo Server Properties / Access Control listing. Obviously, I cannot utilize MRV until the Tivo server and more importantly, the Tivo transfer service recognizes the address. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Philip

Series 1 PTVUpgrade "failed to connect"

I'm a total newbie, but I've owed the PTVUpgrade on my Series 1 for over two years. 9 times out of 10, I get an "Error Failed to Connect" when using TyTools. When I do get the Now Showing list and I try to extract a show, I never get more than 80% extracted before it freezes. Can anyone help?

USB network adaptor for older bakes?

Hello, In December of 2005 I upgraded my Phillips 704 Directvo with InstantCake for Series2 DirecTiVo Units (6.2). I had a Netgear FA120 USB connecter. All was fine and dandy. About 14 months ago we moved from Portland to Seattle and in the move the Netgear went missing. I've been using the Directivo without a network connection until today when I picked up a Trend Net TU2-ET100 from my local Radio Shack, plugged it into my Directvo, and into my network. The 100 MPS light lights up but not the link light. Rebooted several times and tried both ports to no avail. I see that there are adaptors that are compatabile for drives baked after Decemeber of 06 but what about one as old as mine? Short of a rebake are there any adaptors that will plug and play? It appears the Netgears are unavailable. If I've missed where this has been addressed in the forum already please forgive me. Thanks for any assistance! David

Newbee needs some help

Starting from scratch..... I am a novice at this and really don't want to earn an advanced degree in electrical engineering, but.... What I want is probably what everyone wants and can't find. I have HD cable with Time Warner and would like to hook up a DVR so that I can record the content I receive so that I can watch it at my convenience. I would like the abiliity to hook up a larger hard drive to keep more movies, etc, or ideally, I would like to be able to burn a DVD to use on my other television. Now, I know that there are hundreds, probably thousands of you looking at this and shaking your heads and saying what a dufus, but, I am a senior citizen who recently retired and find that I am watching more television than in the past and would like to keep a library of my favorites. Before you tell me to buy a watzit and tear it apart and hook in zoomit500 and back flush to reset the PRM counter... keep in mind that I am not familiar at all with this stuff. Your help is greatly apprciated. thanks,

hr10-250 ip address

I'm looking for some help getting an IP address on my hr10-250. I using a copy of my original drive so I can always go back to a clean copy of 6.3f if needed. In addition, I'm using a Linksys USB200M v2. I initially had trouble with PTVnet 6.x not installing and generating the "no such file or directory" when attempting to set the flags. I found several posts regarding this, and after manually creating the init directory, and using the "force" option to run the script, everything seemed to install. After booting my receiver, I now have link lights on my Linksys adapter, but I do get an address. I've scanned my network using AngryIP to verify this. I also do not have any unaccounted for entries in my DHCP clients table. For troubleshooting purposes, I have tried the USB200M in a laptop where it does get an address and works perfectly. I've read many posts here where people have this working, so clearly I'm overlooking something or doing something wrong. I was going to purchase InstantCake, but InstantCake is also at 6.3f so I don't see what that would gain. Any thoughts from anyone are appreciated. Thanks

Just installed a 500 GB Seagate Barracuda. Used InstantCake 540, everything went fine even got the congratulation screen. Went through Guided Setup also did a Clear & Delete. Got updates from Tivo. Then off to recording I go. When I replay the HD makes this clicking sound and then the video freezes. Does it off and on. Bad drive, bad InstantCake download, bad something...?
