From Cool to Creepy, Latest LinuxMCE Has it All

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.dvrplayground.com/imagelib/contentitem/15947/15947.jpg">Combining an innovative stylish interface with wizard-based screens, LinuxMCE 0704 is powerful, packed with features, and pretty ( check out the demo ). You don&#39;t need to be an engineer to set it up, and of course, it&#39;s free. What more could you ask for in a media center? Not much, according to the folks over at KDE Dot News . The latest offering from LinuxMDE, a joint effort with KDE, does pretty much everything you might want from an Open Source Media Center. This thing&#39;s the guard dog of home media systems. LinuxMDE&#39;s remote Orbiters offer a unique blend of sci-fi and creepy: they control your entire home including your telecommunications system; remember individual user preferences; follow you from room to room (it can even link multiple homes); talk to and operate your mobile phone; act as a complete home security system; and will even babysit the kids. Need more storage to keep tabs on everyone? No problem; it also supports NAS ! I wonder if it makes decent coffee.

home media server on linux?

I have the Tivo media desktop software for Windows and it allows me to use my Windows machine as a music server. I would like to use a Linux system to serve my mp3s instead. Does anyone know if there are any applications available to run a Tivo home media server on Linux? Thanks, Mike

SageTV coming to Mac OS X?

The CTO/Founder of SageTV recently posted a thread on the SageTV forums asking for beta testers for SageTV on Mac OS X. If this comes to pass, this could be good news for Mac owners. SageTV is already available for Windows and Linux. In addition, if they also port the SageTV Placeshifter , then those Mac folks wanting to build their own DVR with &#39;slinging&#39; capability will be in luck.

Step By Step Instructions for TyServer?

I just installed the new drive with PVNet installed and I want to download converted videos to my PSP. I know nothing about Linux, so I need step by step instructions for installing TYSERVER or is it installed already. Most of the information I have found is one part here, the other part here etc. I mean I know nothing about installing scripts on a Linux machine. I have a good knowledge of telnet and networking. Thanks and please do not be too harsh on a virgin user!
