New Platform Features: Update Your Profile And More

In our recent upgrade to our platform, we've introduced some new features, and I'd like to introduce you to how they work. Rating Content Items First, we've added the ability to rate other content on the site, such as individual forum threads. You'll also be able to see average user ratings for each content item. Go right ahead and start rating your favorite content items, and help other community members find the best stuff! Update And Personalize Your Profile Second, we've upgraded the profile screen, and added the availability of some great custom options. Here's what you'll now be able to do: Add your Twitter username Add your YouTube ID Add your Flickr account All of these will be visible when other community members view your profile. In addition, you'll also be able to select the country you live in, and your country's flag will be proudly displayed next to your avatar! Groups We've also enhanced the Groups section of the site. First, you'll now see a sidebar on the right hand side of your screen, where you can access "My Groups," the groups that you are subscribed to, with one easy click. You can also see all members in...

What are your favorites?

Hi, everyone! Since I'm pretty new around here, I've been looking around through the archives, reading the discussions, and getting a general feel for the kind of things that interest you. Of course, the best way to do that is to just ask you! So, tell me what topics you find most interesting on DVRplayground. What is YOUR favorite DVR-related thing to read or chat about when you come here? For me, it's the TiVo stuff right now, but homebrew is a close second. I have a Series 2, and had no idea it (or DVRs in general, for that matter!) could do so many cool things. After reading some of the discussions and articles, I can't wait to try out some new tricks.

Hello Everyone

I’m Vicki, the new editor for CN. Everyone calls me Vic, even my own mother. Your choice. I’ve been writing since I was able to hold a pencil, and I’ve been an editor for more than 12 years. I’ve worked with a variety of content, from technical papers in research sciences (mostly chemistry, engineering, and pharmaceuticals) to children’s books. I’ve participated in, and even hosted, a couple of writers’ groups over the years. I’m nearly always online, and you can always send me a PM . If you hear me blither on about weird things like mass extinctions, the Alvarez Theory, or AlGore’s backward hurricane, that’s because I have a degree in physical science (geology), and another in writing. Yes, folks, I majored in not one, but TWO subjects that have almost zero job prospects! I also have a background in education, with a focus on gifted children. You may hear me declare my love for Montessori, charter education, and homeschooling as well. I’m very happy to be a part of Capable’s team, and I look forward to getting to know you better as we work toward building DVRplayground into the biggest, bestest DVR-centric online community that the ‘tubes will...

Has site software changed?

I always used to able go just enter the site's WEB address in my browser and it would recognize me and not require a log-on. Now each time I access the site, a new log-on is required. Has something changed in the site software, or did I change something in the configuration of my browser?

Sorting forum threads by date

Currently when I enter a given forum, the threads seem to be in no particular order. I realize that there should be certain sticky threads that are always shown first, but it would be much easier if the remaining threads were listed in descending date order. This would make it much easier to find any new and/or updated threads since my last visit.
