OK, I have gotten so much conflicting info, I decided to come here and consult the experts. I had cable TV from Optimum last year and they give you this little box for $10 extra per month to record and play back but it was way too small and I wanted to burn DVDs and no way to do that I knew of.

Now I moved and got cable again and I didnt get the recorder box because I want to buy my own setup. I called the cable company and they suggested a TIVO and said I could record DVDs over my wireless with that. I went to Best Buy and the guy there said I could not do it, even with a TIVO. Yet I looked on Walmat and they have a PVR (Hauppauge HD PVR USB 1080i HD External TV Tuner), and the guy in the review said it can record shows/movies and then write to the DVDs.

Help!! I have no clue which way I should go. Does anyone have any recommendations?
