On my DVR, a paused TV show will get automatically unpaused after an hour of inactivity anyway, or at the four hour mark when the DVR hibernates.
Actually what annoys me more is the text ".99 cent movies now on Dish!" because they don't mean .99 cents, they actually mean 99 cents, which is two orders of magnitude larger. .99 dollars is equivalent to 99 cents. .99 cents means less than a penny.
Tonight I got a call from a friend requesting me to meet her at the Emergency Room about 2 miles from my house.
I put my Dish Network DVR on "PAUSE" expecting when I got home I could resume watching my program.
When I got home I discovered that my DVR had apparently been FORCED to override the "pause" command and that the program ".99 cent movies on DISH!" on channel 101 DNFYI had apparently been forced into my "daily schedule" for recording from 12:02AM-12:10AM on Tue 6/22/2010.
In perusing "my recordings" I found that 8 minute recording, a one minute recording from 5/28 (time unknown) entitled "Introducing DISH CINEMA" another "SET YOUR DVR FROM ANYWHERE" recording from 3/09 @ 1:32AM.
My questions are:
1. Am I the only person this is happening to?
2. When a program is "paused" or on a delayed playback typically there is displayed a message saying "your request can only be carried out in live mode, switch to live mode now?" (emphasis on "your request") Am I correct that it seems that DISH NETWORK management is intentionally forcing the DVR past this message in order to deliver their advertising content that I (we?) didn't request?
3. Is there anyone else out there who find this hijacking of the DVR that we're paying for unacceptable and who may be interested in filing a class action against DISH to seek an injunction prohibiting this type of hijacking behavior by DISH?
Thanks and have a GREAT DAY!
