Is it possible to extend the hard disk space on a Comcast Motorola DCH3416 DVR?  I noticed that it comes equiped with an eSATA port.  Anybody have expierence with this?

I've wondered the same thing. (Mine gets filled up FAST after recording a couple HD shows ;)

I contacted Comcast and they say that the eSATA port on the back is functional, so, you would be able to use a second drive.

Does the DVR "just see" the drive when you plug it in, or do you need to do or download something for it to work?

Did you consider taking out the 160GB drive and putting in your own drive of a larger capacity?
