Well I just bought this unit and have some questions.
#1 do you have to get a subscription service just to use basic DVR functions.
#2 I noticed that it only has a modem connection can a USB 802.11 dongle be used.
I just wanted a DVR that I could remotely connect to and download shows when I am away from home.
I do have a slingbox tuner but no DVR
I am just looking for a solution to iTunes since a lot of the shows I do watch are not on iTunes.

I have seen the articles on remote management of your Tivo but can you download from it remotely and when I say remotely I mean over the internet.
keeping in mind the fastest upload speed from my home to the internet is 480kb-s Slow as heck I am so ticked at time wanner for this limit.
It makes watching my slingbox horrible,,
