Good evening everyone:

I have a PACE DVR with Comcast, is there a way to transfer the shows I have to my PC?

I tried connecting my DVR to my router and use look at LAN to find it but it doesn't see it. Is it possible to transfer the shows or is it a no no?

I wonder if the USB port is even active that's why I tried the ethernet option.

If this has been covered before I apologize beforehand!!

Thank you so much!

I was wondering the same thing with my new Pace with Bresnan. I looked up the user guide and it says "for future use" regarding the ethernet port. It also says the usb and firewire are for SATA harddrives, and the dvr will automatically choose which drive to save to, but I could see disconnecting a hardrive and checking to see if the mp4 files are accessible on a computer. They could be viewed with VLC.

I am not familiar with the PACE DVR, but I believe almost all DVR's use a unix based file system.

You would probably need to install something like Linux as another operating system on your PC before you had a chance to even find the files.

Also, many DVR's have an id specific to the box encoded on any recordings made on an external drive. If the PACE DVR does this, it would mean that even if you could view the list of files on your PC, you probably would not be able to watch them there.
