I re-imaged my DVR using instant cake for DVR40 wrote to a Seagate 160 gb worked great except
the Tivo now records every thing literally i say record hosue it records house and ER and Murder she wrote Thing is i did not tell it to record ER or murder she wrote just house
So ok Redid the clear & delete every thing and removed batteries from remote
so it records ER then murder she wrote so i delete them and then it records another show no one asked it to record. very strange
ANY ideas do i need to go in and do some serial hacking no Ethernet hooked up either

Remember all your thumb ratings were wiped out when you installed the new drive.
Whenever it records a show you do not want, highlight the show and press ThumbsDown before you delete it. Over time your Tivo should learn your preferences and stop recording shows you do not want.
You can press ThumbsDown up to three times to indicate how much you do not want the show.
If you don't want your Tivo to record anything that you do not pick, you can go into Settings and turn Suggestions off completely.
Could it really be that simple?
Could it auto recording off of what it is suggesting :>)
I will try that Suggestion 
Should know by Friday AM since it does this every couple of hours

Never even knew that TIVO did that, Yes the TIVO Had Suggstions enabled
Guess the Default is Turned it ON after a new install
