Hello
I bought an RCA DVR80 Tivo off ebay for $20 in the hopes i could use it to record my regular tv shows,
like a VCR.
I don't have / don't subscribe to the Tivo service and can't really afford to right now. Is there anyway
to just use the DVR80 without Tivo service? Possibly some sorta hack or mod available? When I plug
it in, it says trying to find Satellite and Satellite Info, but I do not have Satellite, only regular cable tv.
Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

You've probably figered it out by now.. No, you cannot do what you are wanting to do.
It's a DirecTV box, the fact that it has TiVo in it is irrelevant. It can only decode DTV signals.
