I have a Motorola Dual Tuner integrated DVR from Time Warner, my cable provider.
My question: Can a defective DVR "trash" an HDTV if the DVR is defective? I've had this DVR for about 2 years now. I make sure all of my electronics are plugged in via a surge protecter.
I'm asking this because I have noticed a series of events that leads me to believe that this may be the case.
1) I have a 52" RCA HDTV in the shop with a "burned out" power supply deflection board.
2) I noticed that when using the cables via the DVR, a Sony replacement TV "shutters" and "Component 1" flashes in the upper lefthand corner of the set, as it does when you turn the set on. This happens when I turn a light switch on from across the room. I spent all day yesterday troubleshooting the electrical in the house..................all electrical checked out fine. The TV is plugged into the same surge protecter as the DVR.
3) I disconnected the cables through the DVR and went directly to the TV and no interference or problem, leading me to believe the problem lies in the DVR.
Can this be possible? Stranger things can happen, I guess. I have spent a considerable amount of time on this but have no other answers.
This is my first posting here and by no means an electronic expert.
If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.
