I have a PVR that uses Snap Stream Beyond TV.

Does anyone know how I can use the Beyond TV's Channel Guide to change the channels on my cable box through the SLING BOX PRO.

My current set up

Sling box Pro hooked up to my Verizon Fios Motorola QIP 6200 box via. the ir blaster

Sling Box Pro is also hooked up to my Network

My network has SnapStream Beyond TV 4.XX

Thank you

Hi Jacob,

In order to use Slingbox to control anything external, it must have a compatible remote control code built into the player. In your case, you want to use it to control the Snapstream, not the cable box (if I read your question right). I haven't heard anyone specifically mention they've used a Slingbox with Beyond TV before, but there are some folks over at the SlingCommunity that have found ways to make their own remotes if the Slingbox doesn't have a compatible code set.

Check out the forums and some of the articles at SlingCommunity.com. If there's any chance you could find someone to give you a hand, that's probably your best shot. At the very least, you may be able to find a Slingbox owner that can give you a definitive answer on Beyond TV compatibility.

Best of luck to you.

Actually What I want is the SNAPSTREAM  to control the Slingbox which in turn will change the channels on the cable box.

Thank you

Slingbox is only controllable through SlingPlayer, but unless you're trying to change the channel on the internal tuner on the Tuner, Classic, and PRO models, you're not really controlling the Slingbox.

Slingbox, when connected to a cable box, serves as an intermediary between the two. Hitting a button on the virtual SlingPlayer remote control sends IR commands to the cable box. In essense, if Snapstream can control your cable box, you don't need SlingPlayer to do it.

Maybe I'm missing what you're trying to do? Can you elaborate a little on your goal?

First Off I want to thank you for taking you time to help me with my issue

Ok

The reason I want to use Slingbox Pro with my BTV is that MY Cable box is too far from my Computer to run a IR blaster

and since the SLINGBOX is connected to both the Cable box via the irblaster and my computer network I was hoping that there is comeway to get the "BTV" to TALK to the "SLINGPLAYER"

The BTV can tape my shows at pre set times (time shifting) BUT as I stated above my Computer is TOO far from the cable box (and I'm not renting another cable box)

Thank you

Jacob

Are you opposed to getting a wireless IR solution? They're not all that expensive, and would probably solve your problem. I was just talking to someone over on TechLore about them. Check it out: http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/...
