There are so many old articles and expired links regarding the Tivo Series1.

Is it possible to configure (or hack) a Series1 to use without paying the subscription.

I just want it to change channels and reords the news every night at 11. Can't find instructions (hack) on setting the time o rgetting it to list channels.

Thanks, to clear up my request. I just want the Tivo to act like a VCR, i.e. without program data, but able to have the clock set and a channel programmed to record at a certain time, then play back later.

The dealdatabase article covers a lot, I just need to figure out how to get into the terminal app.
