Hi,

I started the installation by booting with the PTVnet disk. After it asked for the IC disk, I provided it and it seemd to have worked. After the congratulations do you need to once again proviede the PTVnet disk to complete the installation. After the IC part, I left the IC disk in and proceeded to flag all the PTVnet goodies. Is this OK? The reason I ask is, I had to do the Clear and Delete Everything for the TIVO to work. I seemed to recollect from the notes that I should not have to do this if I was also installing PTVnet. So can somebody please help? Thanks.

Also, when I do the guided setup after the Clear and Delete Everything, can I connect the phone line? I chose NO phone line during the installation process. Can I still force a call? Thanks a lot.

The Clear & Delete should not have been required, but it you did need to redo guided setup.

Remember that InstantCake installs a complete new image to your hard drive. I believe the notes mentioning that you would not have to redo guided setup with PTVNet are for the person who is just adding it to a current drive, not when it is being used in combination with InstantCake.

As far as your phone line question, as long as you answered no to the phone line question during installation, you should be able to leave it connected.

Check the articles on this forum for the one about upgrading using the slicer to find out how to force a call. Notice that the method is different between 3.1.5f and some of the newer 6.3 versions.

Thanks Bruce for your helpful reply. So I did a clear and delete everything and then guided set up. I seem to now have all the channels except the local channels. I will probably have to call DirevtTv for that. Also I was able to do a daily call. Is that OK? With PTVnet installed, is it normal to still have the ability to do a daily call? If i don't force it, will it still perform a daily call?

Also, I have still not set up the whole networking thing as I paln to do it soon. I have to read up on that stuff. Is it OK to let it be for now? Thanks.
