Bump... still no resolve!
Okay, I have read over everypost in this forums (YES I have, it has been over a week since I started the PTVnet cd on my Tivo drive)
I orignally Instacaked my new Tivo driveon a 250 gig. I bought the PTVnet CD and loaded that up, I got an error message about there not being the folders, which appears to be because of a 6.2a update on the Tivo for day light savings. I wiped the drive clean and started over reading the directions very very carfully on installing PTVnet with my instacake (both 6.2).
Since doing this my linksys USB200m ver 2.1, USB200m ver 2.0, and my D-link DUB-E100 which are all said to be supported accourding to the info that I got off of the Forums.
Assuming that the network adapters might be bad I went over to my friends house that has a stand alone series 2 Tivo and both the Linksys adapters lit up with no problems and connected to the network.
When I connect the 2.0 to the Directv I get a 10/100 light and the 2.1 has the link and the 10/100 lights light up, but no net work activity.
There are no errors displayed with the PTVnet and when I started over from scratch with the instake CD everything went well with no errors displayed either. This is about the 4th time I have tried loading PTVnet and out of the4 times I have complety started over with the Instacake CD also.
Every time the PTVnet install disk is used I disabled the Daily call, how ever I am still getting the call message (has not been connected in 768 days LOL)
What is wrong with the startup? Where should I go or what should I do? (And yes I have restarted the system more then once after installing PTVnet and let it boot up everytime and I have tried each of the adapters)
Time for the monthly update!
I tried a Dlink DUB-E100 and get the same kind of usb warnings. Looking at /etc/hotplug/usb.map, I've found that both of these adapters do not appear in the file.
Figuring that this might be the problem, I added them to the file and restarted hoping that the problem was that the devices just aren't being recognized. Same results. If I ask for the installation of the ax8177x driver with insmod it does install but doesn't seem to be used when the device is installed or the system is restarted with either device installed.
Anyone else have any more advice on this? I even went so far as to use a brand new disk freshly built with instantcake again just to check that I wasn't missing something.
Note: My instantcake 6.2 for the 704 might be more than a year old while my PTVnet isn't more than a few months old. Anyone know of any incompatibilities there?

Okay... I got a serial cable connected in, and found out some info on my D*tivo box. This is what I get
usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x13b1/0x18) is not claimed by any active
driver.
A quick attempt to insmod the drivers showed that the system thinks they
are already installed. So, something's up.
What do I need to do?
