I also bought the 'Trendnet' TU2-ET100 from upgrade- I have FA120's on my other tivos. the TU@ does not work on any of the boxes, it is a waste. My version of instant cake is instantcake-IC2-dsr704-6.2-01-2-301.iso and was also purchase in late december. the TU2 is useless.

In december I bought the Instant cake and PVT Net software for my Hughes HDVR2. I installed the software on a new hard drive and got it working but my Linksys adapters were not the correct type and everyone was out of the FA 120 adapters. I checked back and saw where DVRupgrade is now selling the Trendnet adapters so I purchased one. Well I hooked it up to my network but no lights or anything. Plugged the new adapter and cable into my laptop and it connected fine, so I know the adapter and cable ane port in router are good. So after several reboots still no light on usb adapter. Pulled drive out and reran PVYnet to make sure I hadn't fat fingered something the first time. Popped in the drive hooked everything up still no lights. Any ideas?
I am having the same issue...
Has anyone figured out this? My email thread with support:

So here I am.
Help anyone?
I have the usb 2 set to on in the PTV setup.
Now what?
Rich
NO - I DID NOT GET IT TO WORK-
I BOUGHT A NETGEAR THAT I KNOW WORKS-
the comment "Note that these adapters will only work with PTVnet kits and software
> versions released after December 20, 2006. If you purchased your kit
> prior to then, you will need a 'recertification' service to update the
> software, and if you are using DIY software, you'll need to update to
> the latest version." summs up the problem- I bought my DVR sotware JUST BEFORE THEY INSERTED THE FIX....the recert should have been free....
