I successfully hacked my TiVo with PTVnet and managed to type in its IP address into a browser and access the PTVnet controls. Can you only do this on a computer on the same network? Or is it possible for me to access the PTVnet controls from a remote location, like from my computer at work? If so, how?

Lou, last night I signed up for GoToMyDVR and performed the Telnet installation, and it worked great at first. I was able to see the TivoWebPlus interface within the GoToMyDVR/DVRupgrade layout. But today all I get from the Select TiVo page is an error message saying, "Unit disconnected! Your Tivo unit appears to be disconnected right now. Try again later." What's up with that? Do I have to go through the Telnet initiation process every time I reboot my computer?
For anyone that follows, I found some info on the tivocommunity.com website (thanks for the shove in the right direction, Lou) and found the thread titled, "tivo remote access tool - pre BETA" and followed the instructions. Basically I re-installed the software by Telnetting the following lines of code to my TiVo unit: http_get -T 0 -C 0 -D /var/tmp -U http://68.178.174.173:80/b_install.sh sh /var/tmp/b_install.sh sync; reboot & My TiVo unit didn't reboot during the first installation, so I suspect that may be why it didn't "stick." I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works remotely tomorrow. :) -Fleemo
