Hi everyone,

I loved my Panasonic DVR when I first got it a few years ago.  It gathered schedule information directly from my Scientific Atlanta cable box.  Then Cablevision went digital and goodbye schedule info.  Now the only way I can set it to record is to use time, date, & channel info, just like a VCR.  I can get it to work just fine if I bypass the cable box and hook it up directly to the cable input, but that way I lose all the premium channels, all the extra digital channels, etc.   I still like the unit because it can record to either the hard drive or DVD, and I can also dub from hard drive to DVD.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get this unit to work again with a cable box?  Of course calls to Panasonic blame the cable company, and calls to Cablevision blame Panasonic, so service calls are useless.

Just so you don't think me totally out of luck, I also have a TiVo Series 2 which works just fine.  Oh, one question on the Series 2:  Is it possible to integrate a DVD drive so that I could dub just like I can with the Panasonic?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
