You should call back and give them the RID (Receiver ID) # and the access card #. I've gone around in circles with directv before on this as them asking for the serial # and ran into the same problem. You can go into the sys info screen and go through step by step with the csr. Please explain to them that there are different #'s on the unit and in the sys info screen and you want to make sure it's activated and that the card is fully functional. It shouldn't take you more than 5 mins.

I just activated my 6.3b Instancaked HR10-250.
I gave the rep the S/N (14 digit #) from the back panel of the unit. I am getting a Ext.711 message.
The S/N that Tivo reports under System Info is an 8 digit number and totally different.
What is the serial # i should be giving for activation?

Thanks for the info..I left the unit runnign overnight, checked it this morning now im getting the Ext. 721 Message.
Just curious, is this S/N discrepancy typical with Instantcaked units or should ANY version read the serial # from the hardware, therfore be the same?
