Hello,I am not sure what other systems this might work on but I was looking for an install or how-to for a few days now and all I could find was the wrong version or files that caused errors. Here is what I did and used. Download the joe-2.9.8-pre1-s2.tgz from http://tivoutils.sourceforge.net/ which when I tried to save it to my drive it was saving as just a .tar so I renamed the download to .tar.gz in order for it to untar correctly.I then uploaded it to my /var/hack folder. So at this point I have a working version of joe. FINALY!!

Now I did this to make it work across the system.I followed the guide here http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/network_... to add /var/hack/bin to my path.

 cdbash-2.02# /var/hack/bin/joe .profile

ADD TO NEW .profile << just a note do not ad this text...export PATH=$PATH:/var/hack:/var/hack/binnow hit ctrl K + X as it sates in the howto at steves and continue with the logout process. Now when I log back in I get this.bash-2.02# echo $PATH/bin:/sbin:/tvbin:/ptvupgrade/bin:/ptvupgrade/busybox:/var/hack:/var/hack/binand

Hope this may help some folks.. I'm not much into supporting this but I would be willing to help if I can so just give me a shout.

this forum software mangled my post so I had to remove a lot of my instructions so good luck but it did work for me.

peace,
