Okay I'm new here and I am fairly new to modifying my TiVO and I have some questions I know people will have the answers to.

A few years ago I upgraded my Philips DSR6000 with a cache card and Instant Cake and it was super easy. I have found modifying my HR10-250 to be much more problematic (needed to reinstall from scratch once, and lose local channels every time I place a fresh IC drive in there so it facilitates a call to DirecTV). To get to the point, here are my questions.

I have successfully upgraded to 6.3a and TivoWebPlus working together and to do so I succcessfully installed The Slicer on the TiVo. However, before the 6.3a upgrade, TivoWebPlus had options for controling the Tivo menu system remotely from a web page. After the 6.3a upgrade the "Tivo Remote" option no longer ppears in TivoWebPlus. My first question is: Why did those control options diappear? Are they not available with this version of the system SW?

Second, I aread the instructions about upgrading to TivoWebPlus 1.3.1 (I'm currently at 1.2.1) but it looks like there was an addendum for HR10-250 users.  It also sounds like a newer version might be preferred, or might even bring back the stuff I lost. What i'm worried about is that it seems that there are multiple options (modules?) available within TivoWebPlus and I'd hate to lose seomthing I already have and get a bunch of new stuff I don't need. I don't have a serial cable because I haven't had a PC with a 9 pin serial port in years so it would be a lot more work just to use that. There are seemingly hundreds of posts on the aforementioned subjects and many of them are about older versions of installs, and some are about Zippered drives, etc. I am confident that I can do whatever I need to do, but sorting through all of this makes it hard to find instructions specific to my setup. Do I even need the latest version of TivoWebPlus?

My ultimate goal is to transfer (or stream) video from my Now Playing list to my HTPC and preferably unencrypt it in the process (either as its recorded or as a process on the PC).

I also remember hearing that Series 2 Tivos could allow people to watch something from one Tivo on another Tivo in another room. I haven't seen that ability in any of the tools I'm finding.

i also don't understand how my modded Tivo is going to make its daily call if i order PPV.  Do I still need a phone line to do it?  I thought networking it would allow it to contact the DVR service through the Internet but the phone option screens still look like they do from the factory.  Which leads me to my last question.

Lastly, howcome nobody has figured out a way to alter the menus in the Tivo interface itself?  It would seem that the holy grail for hacking these things would be to make custom menus that show and alter your mods in the Tivo interface itself.  Sorry for the length, thanks in advance.

Kurtster, Web Remote requires sendkey, which doesn't work with 6.x.

Multi-Room Viewing (MRV) does not work with the HR10-250.

The Daily Call has nothing to do with PPV. In order to order PPV from the receiver, you would have to use a phone line.

HR10-250, Samsung SIR-S4120R, SIR-S4080R, 2 Philips DSR704s (one connected to a Slingbox A/V). One box used the "Zipper"; rest used PTVnet to enable networking features.

Thanks Yog-Sothoth.  Surely Cthulu is pleased with your wisdom. :-P

That explains a lot of my questions and I knew someone would know.  Is MRV not available with the HR10-250 because it isn't possible by design, or because the hack world just hasn't found a way to enable it yet?

6.3b has not been downloaded to my non-modified HR10-250 so I'm curious when DTV gets around to updating my systems, what will my sliced HR10-250 do with it?  Will it just sit in the folder until I wait for a 6.3b Slicer version to execute the upgrade?

I realize these may be best answered at the PTVnet forum but I thought I'd throw in all of my questions at once. Thanks again.
