I recently upgraded my hard drive to a 300gb seagate drive and followed the instructions posted here

The installation went though but im not sure im getting the full use of the 300gb hard drive
Best quality - 103hrs 25min
High quality - 168hrs 8min
Medium quality - 222hrs 58min
Basic - 337hrs 34min
Also in the video recording quality menu i changed the quality to medium, but whenever i record anything it records it at (best quality) and not the medium quality that i selected in my preferences.

I have the same and I believe thats as much juice that you are going to get out of it.
As for your quality problem when you set your season pass make sure you go to recording options and in there you need to switch it to medium qaulity and you have to do that everytime.
