Ok I've been reading for several hours and nothing helps. I'm stuck. I have the "Origional Hardrive" I know I know. 40 Gig hooked up as the secondary master. The cdrom is on the primary slave. I copied the ISO file down from the website and copied it to a CD. I used NERO and copied it using the "Make Bootable Disc" option. Now when I boot the pc, the CD spins and DOS fires off. When Caldera finishes, I get a DOS prompt A:\. I have tried several things. such as trying to format the drive. Right now it's a fat32 drive. I've tried NTFS and unformated. I have put the .iso file on the boot cd by it's self and I have exploded it using ISOBuster. I have even tried to run the ptstart.exe file but it won't run in DOS. There are several things I don't understand. 1) What type of formating should the harddrive have before I start. 2) I don't understand why the threads say you should not use the origional hard drive and that you should use a new bigger one. That makes no sence. a hard drive is a hard drive. 3) I know that this is all based on Linix so don't we have to load the operating system first and then the Tivo \ InsantCake software?? Ok so I just gave it away that I know nothing about Linix and I know nothing abut this process but I'm very good with Building pc's and I program for a living using .net so I should be able to reason this out. HELP.
