I am reentering my message so people who have the same problem can maybe search the problem and find how I fixed it. Here is my original msg with the error messages:
I put a second 120GB hard drive in a Samsung 4080 series 2 last fall, and I still ran out of space. It seemed as though the drive didn't mount last year but when I put it in the time increased.
I thought I would replace the original 80GB with a 160GB. But am having problems that I have not seen on any forum.
I am using weaknees bootable CD with large disk support. When I type in mount command:
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt I get error message:
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k nls_cp437 errno=2
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k nls_iso8859-1, errno=2
weaknees# spurious 8259A interruupt IRQ7
I assume that since the drive isn't mounted when I do backup command mfsbakup -f 9999 -1so /mnt/backup.bak /dev/hdc I get:
second mfs drive: no such file or directory
second mfs drive2: illegal seek
second mfs drive: no such file of directory
second mfs drive3: illegal seek
mfs_load_volume_header: total sectors (155366400) mismatch with volume header (389789696)
mfs_load_volume_header: loading anyway
mfs_load_zone_map: primary zone map corrupt loading backup
mfs_load_zone_map: secondary zone map corrupt, giving up
mfs_load_zone_map: zone map checksum error!
mfsbackup: backup failed to startup. make sure specified the right devices, and that the drives are not locked
The drives show as correct size so I know are not locked. I have scoured the internet read an amazing amount of forum info and have ran out of things to try. I have the coputer c drive on primary master with cd-rom slaved off of same. I have original tivo drive as secondary master with new tivo drive slaved off of same. I have tried multiple computers with multiple drives and always get same thing. I am running win98se. thanks for any help.
The weaknees disk has a module kmod that for some odd reason didn't work, and I assume that is why I couldn't mount my hard drive. When Linux is loading you see the message:
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modproble -s -k nls
I downloaded the ptvupgrade disk and still had a problem till I figured out I had to have the a and b tivo drive in to upgrade the a drive. But is all good in tivo land now :) thanks to everyone that helped figure things out, it is great that is some where to go for help!
