I am confused about which type of hard drive I need to upgrade my DSR704. I hope this isn’t a redundant question, but I couldn’t find it any where in the forums. My DSR704 has a Maxtor Quick View drive and I’m told that the interface is PATA. Now can I use any IDE, EIDE, ATA, or SATA(with cable change) in this DVR? And will they all or any operate on my PC for PTVnet/ICake upgrade? Also Maxtor says that the Quick View is especially made for DVRs. What’s so special about it? It cost more than other drives and I don’t know if it’s worth the extra $’s. I will appreciate any help rendered.

The Quick View drives aren't special at all, just all hype and marketing. IDE and PATA are the same thing, they just renamed the IDE's to PATA once the SATA drives came out. So any PATA/IDE drive will work just fine.

As I suspected! Thanks for the conformation.
