Started all over (got rid of the Instant Cake disc, had reload with it atleast 4 times), got an image file and used mfstools2.0 boot disc. After loading image, completed the setup. Placed harddrive back into my tivo and everything worked. Now time to see what I can get into.

Hopefully I will not get flamed, I tried doing searchs but I'm still having problems. Actually I have two. First off, I succussfully was able to bake my spare 60 gb harddrive with no problems, but it shows up as 37 hours on basic. Is this normal? And when first connected it dials in and does a complete setup, I take this to be normal.
Now, my understanding is that after it's baked, the bash prompt is turned on. But, I haven't been able to connect to it. I made a serial cable from a diagram from Hinsdales site (checked it about a dozen times, its ok). I'm using a null modem adapter, I've set up hyperterminal as seen in many postings: Choose proper com port, bps = 9600, db = 8, parity = none, sb = 1, and fc = none and also tried all the settings in this field. Now, I know when it powers up you have to hit enter, just not for sure when, but I've tried at various points.
Hopefully someone can help me or point me in the right direction. TIA

I'm starting to think IC doesn't enable the serial port? Maybe someone can help me with my next problem. After using IC, my hard drive works fine. I then place it back into my pc and boot with mfs tools 2 with no problems. I create the following directories with no problems
mkdir /mnt4 [ENTER], mkdir /mnt9 [ENTER], mkdir /mnt9 [ENTER]
This is the problem I am having when I mount them
mount /dev/hdc4 /mnt4 [ENTER] (I do this with 7 and 9 also, with the same results)
I get: "dev/hdc4: succeded "then I get "mount: you must specify the filesystem type"
I tried going through all the steps, but I'm still unable to get connected through the serial port. So I figured the above is were my problem is. So, does this mean I don't have any of the partitions on my hard drive? Hope someone can help me.
