I am not so interested in upgrading the hardrive, as I am networking the unit.  I know DirecTV didn't enable the USB port in the back, so I would have to do that.  Could someone point me in the right direction?  Also, I purchased a Tivo Wireless G network adaptor

http://www.tivo.com/2.7.1.asp

on the box it says it can't be used with DirecTV DVR with Tivo.  I was thinking as long as I could apply a hack to enable the USB port(s) then I could use the product?

thank you

Apparently you missed the thread (three down from the "sticky" threads) with the title of Using TiVo Branded Wireless G USB Network Adapter With DirectTiVo.

TechLore Blog

HR10-250, Samsung SIR-S4120R, SIR-S4080R, 2 Philips DSR704s (one connected to a Slingbox A/V). One box used the "Zipper"; rest used PTVnet to enable networking features.
