USB 1.0 Adapters (not for HR10-250)

3Com 3C460B

Belkin F5D5050 (confirmed by me)

D-Link DSB-650TX

Linksys 100TX

Linksys USB100M

Microsoft MN-110

Netgear FA101

Siemens SS1001

SMC SMC2208

TRENDnet TU-ET100C (confirmed by "Capt.Zod")

USB 2.0 Adapters (Also Work with the HR10-250)

D-Link DUB-E100 (newer hardware version B1 will not work; look for versions up to A4 [thanks to "russg"])

*Hawking UF200

*Linksys USB200M Version 1

Look at the box - if there is no "orange and white CD" under the box contents on the right side, then it is a version 2, which will not work with PTVnet. A version 2 will also have a "version 2" sticker on the device itself.

*+Netgear FA120

Xterasys XN-121

For PTVnet Version 1.10 (6.2) and Version 1.1 (3.1.5f) (Updated December 2006)

* Linksys USB200M version 2

* = Tested by DVRupgrade.

Other USB 2.0 Adapters

Cables Unlimited USB-2810 (reported by "TurboMaster")

(Disregard if using HR10-250) Make sure if you're using a 1.0 adapter that you answer "no" to the USB 2.0 question when installing PTVnet (the 2.0 driver may not include the proper chipset driver). Conversely, make sure you enter "yes" if you have a 2.0 adapter (for best performance). If you chose the wrong driver during installation, you can re-run only PTVnet without using InstantCake.

If you have a serial cable, you can type flag_swap USB20 in a bash session to switch to the other USB drivers (sync and reboot are also necessary).

If you are using the Zipper to hack your TiVo, newer ethernet adapters are supported. Read more here.

I am currently running a Linksys USB100TX on my PTVNet Phillips DSR7000 but it is extreamly slow transfering files to my PC. I am looking to upgrade to a USB 2.0 adapter but it seems that the FA120 and others on the compatability list are not available anymore. The TrendNet TU2-ET100 seems to be the only one I can find and is listed with the Hawking UF200 in my /etc/hotplug/usb.map file. Has anyone had success with a TrendNet TU2-ET100?

Thanks Yog-Sothoth. I will try to find my way to the original updated post but with all the posts out here it is very hard to find the current, updated posts with out spending several hours reading posts that don't pertain to what I am looking for. Please point me to the original if you know off hand where it is. My PTVNet was purchased in mid-october, is that new enough to support the Linksys USB200M V2? Tried my link to re-download last night, but I guess my link has expired. Thanks again!

The updated original post in this thread.

You'll need to purchase the new version of PTVnet.

Boy do I need your help here.  On December 5th, I purchased PTVnetHD (3.1.5f) +  InstantCake for HR10-250 3.1.5f Special Edition.  I then installed it successfully on TWO dual drive HR10-250 TiVos.  However, I have had NO luck getting my Linksys USB200M v1 adaptor to work on EITHER of my PTVnet/InstantCake TiVos.  It lights up and shows up in my Linksys RVS4000 Gigabit router's "DHCP Active IP Table" but has a VERY short "Expires" time...  When I first saw it in the table, it only had an "Expires" value of 8...  Every other DHCP device had "Expires" values from 44370 to 85570.  Obviously, PTVnet's USB 2.0 ethernet connection is shutting down for some reason quickly after it restarts so I can't access my TiVo using the IP address that came up in DHCP (192.168.2.101 this last time).  I even tried to access it as soon as it showed up on my router's  but my neither FireFox 2.0 nor IE 7.0 had any success connecting to it.

I just noticed that there was a new version of PTVnet released which seems to allow some more USB 2.0 Ethernet choices.  Needless to say, I'm more than happy to buy another USB 2.0 Ethernet device is that is what will solve my problem but I think I'd rather install the new PTVnetHD 6.2 if it is available since I'm going to transition to TiVo 6.3b ASAP anyways.

Unfortunately, I don't have a serial cable nor Linux experience so I'm really looking for a simple "format and install" solution to this annoying problem, especially after buying the PTVnet and InstantCake software to prevent problems like these from happening.

Thanks for your help!

Don

P.S.  I just had DTV HR20-700 for a month and am sending it back...  It can't compare to my HR10-250!

BrokerDon, After reinstalling Instantcake and PTVNet for my DSR7000R I had a similar problem with my Linksys USB200M Version 2.1. The ipaddress seemed to change after a very short period of time and the change didn't appear in the DHCP Table on my Linksys 54GS router. By process of elimination I was able to quickly figure out the current IP address (You could use an IP scanner to find it) so I could telnet into the dvr and set a static IP address. Static IP address instructions are here:http://www.dvrplayground.com/forum/thread/10952/?page=1 and may help with your problem. Hope this helps!

Deleted found in a prio post how to get the USB200M V2 drivers working..

February 3, 2007 11:02 PM

I bought the PTV in december (12/18) and have 2 dsr704's, the first I had a netgear USB to enet and everything went great.

I just bought a trendnet 100 from DVRUpgrade and it is not working at all- straight out of the box- on the 2nd dsr704.  is there an issue with the ptvnet I purchased on 12/18, or is it most probably just a DOA Trendnet tu2-et100 from DVRupgrade?

I have a line on a load of these DSB-650TX adapters, is there any difference?  The second post lists like 7 of them (all seeming the same or slight variations)...  Just want to be sure.

I am trying to use a D-Link DUB-E100 (H/W version A3) on a Hughes HDVR2 loaded with PTVnet 1.10 (ptvnet62-1.10.iso) and unable to get beyond the the adapter pulling an IP address. No ping, no telnet, AngryIP can't find it, nothing.

To test the network components, I am using the DUB-E100, same cable and port on my D-Link DI-624 to connect to the net at this moment, so I am 100% certain they all work properly.

The message dated May 19, 2006 (updated 12/31/2006) leads me to believe the Linksys USB200M may be the ONLY adapter that works with this version of PTVnet. Is that true? If not, does anyone have any ideas where I need to go next?
