I have a RCA DVR-40 that the drive went south on it. I don't know what version was on the system. I haven't updated since it was first turned on in Nov. of 2004 when I first registered it. I want to know what version of Instantcake to download along with PTVNet also to install this on Western Digital 80GB drive.

I'm not sure if I can download the 6.2 version or I need to use the 3 version.... I want the newest stuff I suppose to enable a larger drive later on.

Need to know before I buy both downloads.

Thanks,
Mav

You can use the 6.2 version.

Awesome, I will download the 6.2 for Instantcake and PTVNet. So here I go to try my first attempt and hooking up my Tivo with goodies......

I guess the software version is stored on the drive and not on the motherboard of the Tivo as a Bios type update. The 6.2 is a version software update for the Tivo software on the Directv system. Sorta like a Windows XP SP2 update.
