I just finished baking my phillips 7000 directivo with 6.2 and the ptvnet disk.

Everything works fine but it wants me to make an initiall call or it wont record anything.

If I connect it once ( i dont have a phone) will the problem go away? I read about fakecall but I dont know a thing about telnet, that is why I bought the easy to run disks.

Any other solutions for me? Please help. I had 3.1 before and loved it, it did everything I wanted it to without a phone.

How did you install PTVNet and InstantCake?

After using PTVNet and InstantCake, I've never had to "phone home," initial setup or not (my last three TiVos were hacked right after pulling them out of the box).

[EDIT]

I see you have posted the same question on three different bulletin boards. The response you got at DDB was surprisingly non-inflammatory.

Read the sticky at the top of this forum; the correct installation method is there.

Finally success!!

1st problem I noticed lots had was the PTVNET disk goes first, then it will ask you for the instacake.

Second problem was the ISO I burned. It probably burned too fast and messed it up. I used ISO RECORDER and burned at 2x speed. Placed cdrom as Primary Slave and HD as Secondary Master.

The whole thing took 20 minutes, it was easy. Because of the damn cd with the bad ISO, I spent about 8 hours of meddling around and research.

Thanks

I guess I've been lucky - I always burn CDs at 40x with my generic Cyberhome DVD burner. Maybe the difference is that I never use generic media; I always use brands such as Maxell or TDK.

Burning DVDs is a totally different matter, as I look for specific media codes on the disk.
