And all the extras. I went to connect the box to the internet and run the daily call hooking up the USB ethernet box bought from PTV upgrade and it is not working. I keep getting a message that it can't dail out. I looking on my DCHP client to see what the IP address would be and there isn't anything labeled PTVupgraded Tivo. I downloaded and ran Angry IP scanner.. still nothing. I've tested the ethernet cable and that works. I am getting lights on the Netgear USBethernet box.

First, how can you tell if you have PTVNet on your box if you can't see the IP address? The reason I ask is because there was this big pink label on the side of my box that says "NON Program". Does that mean I didn't get PTVNet preinstalled? I did pay/order it.

Second, is this the place to ask?

Thanks for any advice

With PTVNet, there is no reason to "phone home." "Fakecall" should take care of the "Daily Call" nag message.

Did you try rebooting the TiVo?

HR10-250, Samsung SIR-S4120R, SIR-S4080R, 2 Philips DSR704s (one connected to a Slingbox A/V). One box used the "Zipper"; rest used PTVnet to enable networking features.

What do you mean by "FakeCall"? And, yes, I tried to reboot.

Right now I have an old Phillips Series 1 that I upgraded myself because the modem blew and I wanted more storage. I used MSFTools and put a cachecard in. And, that makes the daily call over the internet. I assume my new HD one gets the daily call the same way. However, I can force a daily call on the old model. The HD model will tell me it has no dial tone. Is that normal?

There is absolutely no need to "phone home" with a DirecTiVo (your TiVo gets its guide data from the satellite).
