I'm guilty of skipping this step this myself - did you plug the IDE and power cables into the drive? Did the IDE cable come loose from the motherboard?

HR10-250, Samsung SIR-S4120R, SIR-S4080R, 2 Philips DSR704s (one connected to a Slingbox A/V). One box used the "Zipper"; rest used PTVnet to enable networking features.

I just checked the cables and there are all pluged in.

I just found the problem. I took the jumper off of the HD and it worked.

Thank you.

I have an HR10-250 that had a corrupted disk.  I just downloaded the latest (3.1.5f Special Edition) InstantCake, which installed flawlessly, but in the Tivo, it is stuck at "Welcome ..."  After a couple of minutes the red record light went on for a few minutes, then off - haven't seen it since.  About every minute or so, I can hear the drive heads moving, so I know the drive is at least connected.

Any ideas on how to get this puppy going?

Here's an update that might be useful to know:  After 2 hours of the white welcome screen, it moved to a TIVO logo screen (with DVRupgrade copyright) saying "... wait while Tivo reboots one more time...".  This screen stayed up for 90 minutes and then I got the (beautiful to behold) DIRECTV logo acquiring satellite information.  I am holding my breath in hopeful anticipation.

I followed guide notes that suggested leaving the Master jumper on the replacement drive.  I noticed that the original drive was set to cable select (CS) and installed the drive.  Nothing other than "Welcome ....powering up." So after 20 minutes, I disconnected the tivo and pulled the jumper off of Master and set to the CS.  Reconnected the Tivo, started up like a champ. Hearing the drive kick in was sweet :-).

I had to do the same thing with mine.  Left the jumper off during the Instant Cake part (which makes the drive a Master) and then put the jumper on to the drive in the Cable Select position when putting it back in my TIVO.  Seems to work ok.
