Why are there no checksums available for any of the downloads available? Ie InstantCake and or PTVupgrade LBA48 4.02..

Would it not make sense to provide some checksums so that customers can verify their download?

Maybe they are available? If so they are not easy to find ;)

We will be generating checksums at some point, however it is not a priority right now - why? because most people don't know how to use them, and most folks don't have a problem getting a complete download; at least that has been our experience so far.

With that said, we'll have them at some point...

Don't take this the wrong way -- but priority?, it would take what a few seconds to generate the checksums..

No users having issues with downloads? -- then why all the nonsense about using IE vs firefox.

"ALSO USE IE WHENEVER POSSIBLE, SOME FOLKS ARE REPORTING PROBLEMS WITH FIREFOX AND THE ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY DOWNLOAD THESE PRODUCTS."

Most users don't know how to use them? Then those users won't, but a simple link say to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5 would provide all the info they would need - if they wanted to..

Most every site I can think of that provides ISO downloads provides either md5 or sha-1 Shoot even MS provides sha-1 hashes on msdn now.

Looking forward being able to verify my download at somepoint ;)

It takes more than a few seconds, and there are other things that are higher on the list right now.

The "nonsense" about Firefox is not nonsense. Actually, Firefox works just fine, however some folks have download managers turned on in their browser and haven't read the instructions telling them to not use a download manager. It doesn't happen very often, they know that their download has failed, but its clear that they haven't read the instructions, so the md5 issue is moot in that situation anyway.

The fact is that most users don't even read the instructions (this we know for a fact) and this is just one more little 'nice thing to have' that most people won't know about or care about.

Its not a "priority right now" means there are other things more important and it will get done eventually.

Well I will agree with you 110% that most users don't bother reading instructions.. ;)

Thanks for the replies - anyway you could post md5 or sha-1 for 2 products I just bought.. New hard drive not here yet, tmrw.. so would be great to be able to verify my download before I get started ;)

instantcake-hdvr2-6.2-01-2-151.iso
I show md5 = 5365270D0C21DB751E27F53B017C43E0
ptvlba48-4.02DD.iso
md5 = BFBAB2980F0E3AE6BA8D7F30B6E3DCE9

I'm fairly sure I will be posting to the InstantCake Success Stories quite soon ;)
