I just bought and installed software (ICAKE-S2SA) for my Series2 Standalone TCD24004A. I put this on a 200gb Maxtor hard drive. Based on my calculations, I should have aprox. 60 hours available recording time on best quality, or aprox. 200 hours available recording time at basic quality. Unfortunately, I only have 42 hours at best quality, and 157 at basic quality.

I see that if I were to buy a kit, for example 223 HR Replacement Drive Kit, the product description says it contains "one 80GB drive and one 120GB drive", and yields 61 hours at best quality and 223 hours at basic quality. Based on this math, my 200gb hard drive should provide me aprox. 61 hours at best quality, but it doesn't. My brother bought another ICAKE for his tivo box (model 5 series), and his 300gb hard drive now provides him aprox. 95 hours at best quality.

All this points to how I should be getting more available recording hours than I ended up with. Is there something I did wrong, or is there another product/software I should have bought? I even had to pay an extra $10 for the ICAKE than my brother did because I have a different tivo box than he does. And yet, his drive yields him more available hours than mine does. His is also a Maxtor, so the only difference in our drives is that his is 300gb and mine is 200gb. If he didn't need something extra to get all the available hours correctly on his 300gb drive, surely I shouldn't need anything for a 200gb drive, should I?

Perhaps you did not purchase the correct version? Please see the release notes, which discuss version information, drive size requirements, etc. See links below.

please read the release notes, once again

Summary:

If you purchased the 4.01 version of InstantCake for your unit, you will only use 137GB of a 200GB drive. If you purchased the 7.1 version, which has LBA48 support, you can use the full capacity of the drive.

This very same information, is provided in full detail in the release notes.

Please see the links below for more details.

Hi I have bought 4 copies of instant cake for several different TiVos. All of them worked mint!!! The last Instant cake I bought does not work well at all. The TiVo model is TCD24004A and I am using a 330gig WD drive I only get 144 hours. I think there is a problem with this download of Instant cake. I don't know what to do. Do I have to buy something else for it to work?

thanks
