I have this problem too.
What's the deal?
I re-burned with instant cake to just 1 hdd and presto - no partitions at all.
Dirve boots in the tivo but is unhackable since I can't mount the partition.
InstantCake successfully created disk on /dev/hdc. I booted TiVO, cleared & deleted. TiVO functions appear to work.
Moved disk to Linux box to activate/install network and other mods. Cannot mount disk. Disk is installed as secondary master, same as when 'cake built it. Responds to fdisk -l /dev/hdc with head, cylinder, sector info etc. but no partition info. I think it is connected ok. What else do I need to do to be able to mount it? mount /dev/hdc /mnt/tivo returns "you must specify filesystem type." fdisk of /dev/hda (linux boot) yeilds all proper info. Got same result using mfstools. Any ideas?
