I lost a hard drive (one of two) and had to re-install everything from your cd's.

I have a hughes dtivo running your 6.2 instacake + ptv net.

After reinstalling, and clearing and deleting everything the system came
up fine, but none of my local channels are in the 0-99 range.

They were there before the clear and delete everything, but they were displaying Chicago local channels and timezone info and I'm in Los Angeles.

I don't recall having to change anything to get this working the last time around, but it has been awhile.

Can you tell me how to resolve this?

I'd really like my locals in the 0-99 range.

Thanks,
Frank.

If you don't have them by now, tune your TiVo to a local channel you're not receiving, call 1-800-DIRECTV, press 1, press 7-1-1, and your local channels should appear within a minute (disregard the recorded message, as it may take about a minute or so). Your TiVo may appear to hang at 85% while receiving the local channel information; be patient.

After reinstalling, and clearing and deleting everything

If this is a "fresh" installation, there is no need for that, provided you installed PTVNet correctly (boot from the PTVNet CD first and answer "yes" when it asks if you have an InstantCake CD).

Still no local channels

I p[erformed the clear and delete, called Direct TV, Pressed 1, then 711, also tried 722, also spoke with them and did some troubleshooting. Still cannot get any local channels. Can anyone help? It has been over six months and still no local channels.

I had the same problem. I did not clear and delete.
All was well the next day, after all of the program info updated.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Do you mean after the initial installation, you never did a clear & delete?

That was what I was instructed to do in order to get things up and running after the "Instantcake" CD installation. So in other words I would have to take the drive(s) back out of the Tivo system and connect back up to the PC, then reinstall all over again and not clear & delete, but wait a day in order to get my local channels back? Please let me know - Thanks

Yes, I would take the drive(s) back out of the Tivo system and connect back up to the PC, then reinstall all over again and not clear & delete.

Then wait until the program info rebuilds.

I keep seeing the "Clear and delete." If you use PTVNet in conjunction with InstantCake, there is absolutely no need to do that (boot from PTVNet and insert InstantCake when instructed).

Clear and delete is listed in the Release Notes (ICAKE-S2DT) InstantCake for Series2 DirecTV Units page. http://www.dvrplayground.com/comment/null/?type=4&postcount=5

I used Weethet's guide for my installation.
That page is how I found PTV upgrade.

You're obviously not reading everything I posted. You only need to do a "Clear and Delete" if only InstantCake is used. Read the instructions during the PTVNet installation.

If you actually read the original post, you'll see that he used InstantCake + PTVNet. For some, it's actually worth an extra $20 for PTVNet to not have to wait several hours for the Clear and Delete to finish.

I understand what you posted, and I agree with you.
I just thought that the link to the solo Instant Cake instruction may be part of the reason why people are clearing and deleting, i.e. not taking the time to fully understand the process they are attempting to do.

Just wanted to take a minute to thank this forum, especially Spaceman! I have had no local channels for a year now. I called direct TV repeatedly. Pressed all the numbers (711, etc.), talked to a representative. They still could not get my local channels back and told be to call back when their technicians were available but seeing how my Tivo is hacked, I didn’t think that to be a wise move. Anyway, tonight I decided to search this forum again and found the "Autotune" tip. It worked! I didn't want to pull the drive out and start over due to having tons of cartoons of my kids on the drive. They would probably need therapy for years if they woke up one day and found all of their cartoons had disappeared LOL! Thanks DVRPlaygound and everyone who takes time out of their busy lives to post their tips :)

coming on late... but for those late in the game like me, the easiest way to fix this is to go to directv.com and look in customer service and find "Reset your Receiver." Reset the receiver in question and minutes later it's fixed.

When I ran into the "Chicago locals" problem, I needed to enter a proper zip code as "fred" described on February 17, 2006 and then restart the TiVoWebPlus software through the web interface.  No phone calls and no full TiVo reboots were required.
