Hi all -
Am new to this forum, so please excuse my questions/point me to the appropriate thread if they are already well-discussed ...
I have a Sony SVR-2000. I bought InstantCake from PTVupgrade (model-specific) and used it to bless/upgrade my system with my own new 80GB HD (substituted for the original HD, which is now in storage). TiVo has been running smoothly for more than a month. No trouble there.
I have a TurboNET card which I am ready to install (the instructions are clear enough) ... however I did NOT buy the TurboNET card from PTVupgrade ...
My goal is to link my TiVo to my home network (I have the ethernet cable laid to my router and waiting) for the purpose of either transferring or copying selected programs to one of my PC's so that I can edit out commercials and then make DVD-compatible recordings (to burn to DVD) for personal use only (compilations for kids' DVD player, etc.).
Please give me a list of the steps/purchases that I need to follow/make to accomplish this. I'm hoping that acquiring my TurboNET card >before< discovering PTVupgrade was not a mistake, as at first glance it appears that PTVupgrade only supplies their DVRchive server software if you purchase an accompanying hardware bundle ... is there not a way to buy a DVRchive server license separately?
Thanks in advance for your help -

answered my own question (I think) ...
Hi all -
I think I answered my own question - found this info on the InstantCake product detail page.
I'll give it a whirl!
Thanks (anyway) -

InstantCake for your Series1 Standalone unit includes LBA48 support, large swap, and has been tested to run on drives as large as 250GB. InstantCake will build the equivalent of our NetReady replacement drive kits -- this means you can purchase a TurboNet or CacheCard separately (available from 9thTee.COM) and do the software configuration yourself without reinstalling the drive in a PC.
