Hello,

I recently received a TWP replacement disk from PTVupgrade for my DTivo HR10-250, installed it and everything was working great on my wired network. I tried elseed and it worked once, so I moved on to try NCID. I installed that and ran it from the BASH prompts fine. I tried to get Hackman to recognize add it to its lists, but couldn't. So, I edited the rc.sysinit.author file to add these lines:
ncidd
tivocid &

That's the last time I talked to my DTivo. After re-boot, it seems to "talk" continuously (link/act lite on USB adapter and router are on solid). No response to ping, telnet, ftp or TWP.

Is there any way to stop it long enough to restore the original file? Will serial port still work for BASH? Are there any serial port solutions for the Macintosh?

Yes, I am a newbie to TWP, but I have searched PTVupgrade, TivoCommunity and DealDataBase forums and haven't found answers to the above Q's.

Any help (explicit instructions or links to where the answers are) would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,
PaulPS

You could have a serious problem there... You'll have to do some digging at tivocommunity.com to see if there is a serial port solution for the MAC; or get yourself a PC serial cable from 9thTee.COM and see if you can adapt it for your MAC (and/or borrow a PC or laptop, which might make it easier).

In any case, once you have a serial connection, you should be able to edit your rc.sysinit.author file, but if these activities are foreign to you, you might be better off ordering a 'recertification' from our support page and having us reinstall the software for you.

Ive noticed network activity in the past as well when I wasnt doing anything with the HDtivo. In the back on my mind I thought "oh no Directv has found me over the internet". Not sure what it really is, but I do have to reboot Id say a couple times a week to get an IP addy assigned when it disappears from the network.
