InstantCake creates makes a replacement drive kit out of your drive(s), not an add-on. If you want to use InstantCake, take your drive out of your TiVo and connect it to your PC with your new drive and it will overwrite EVERYTHING and make a new dual drive kit out of your drives.

The problem may be that you are using 2x300GB drives and as far as I know, the version of InstantCake you downloaded will only support as large as 2x250GB drives (see the release notes for more information: http://www.dvrplayground.com/comment/null/?type=4&postcount=2). It could also be some other problem with the steps you followed for your upgrade, I cannot tell from your posts.

If you want to try a slightly updated (and untested) version, please send us an email (use the contact form on our web site) and provide your real name and order info, if possible, and we'll generate a link for you. We cannot make any promises that this will solve your problem, but if you want to try it, you can.

On the bottom on the screeen when it says it's done theres a

i don't see that in the Screen shots

I just want to get this going again

I still have the 20 gig from the unit it still works just fine

If you can just confirm that you've in fact been following the instructions (have you been referencing the official support thread); configured your drive(s) properly (master for primary, slave for secondary) and that the script appears to run, that would be helpful.

If it does appear to run, what happens when you install the drives in your TiVo? (be specific here).

The InstantCake Software run asks 1 or 2 drives system i say 2

Next it says thaT it will erase everything it's says that it going to use the philips/HDR/PTV software you want to continue i says Yes ot y

It says your cake is in the oven writes a 816 image

then says that my cake baked congratulations software installed

power down and install in tivo unit

i took up both powers and ide cable

plug the unit in it says your recorder is starting up

It does not move from that Spot

if this is not what you want i guess i don't under stand

this is now starting drive me nuts

That is what I wanted; your posts are very hard to follow, BTW.

What would also be good is for you use the official support thread as a basis for your actions. You should review the release notes and follow the procedure outlined in the very last section if you are stuck at "welcome, powering up..."

Hopefully this will not continue to "drive you nuts" - you are using a DIY product, so its a given that when things don't work, you must continue to read, and search for answers. Providing clear information when posting your questions, will always help those responding to point you in the right direction.

Lastly, I've sent you a link to an updated 'test version' of the software that is intended to work on drives larger than 250GB; the released version is known to cause problems when using drives larger than 250GB; but ones different than what you described. From your description, I don't expect that using it without following the aforementioned procedure will work, but you might want to try it.

Also, it should go without saying that you should ensure the drives you are using are not defective (ie. run diagnostics on them if you haven't already); eliminating as many variables as possible will always help.

If you have success with the 2x300GB drive configuration with the new version, please let us know (and if you don't, please also respond with the details of your observations).
