I'm new to DirecTivo hacking. Assume normal level of newbie groveling.
First...many props to the folks who take the time to post the How-Tos. Now, on to my issue which I couldn't find answered anywhere.
I recently purchased both the Universal Bootdisk and the PTVNet disk. Not sure that I needed both but, I figured why not. Connected devices as follows:
hda - New WD Caviar 120GB (WD1200)
hdb - Empty
hdc - Bootable CDROM drive
hdd - Original 40GB Tivo drive
Booted from the Universal boot CD and ran:
mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdd | mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda
Btw, this took a very, very long time. I then booted from PTVNet and let it do it's thing.
I put the drive back in the Tivo and let it boot up. I actually stepped away for a brief period of time but when I came back, I had menu access/etc. Was listening to XM via DirecTivo and all was well. However, when I switched to a video feed, it became very jerky and the image would actually freeze on occassion. I did not try to replay stored video. Is there some post-configuration step I forgot/missed?
Thoughts on a possible solution?
