Can I use instant cake with the original drive. DVR80 I really just need the networking capability

You can, but we don't recommend it. BTW, InstantCake is NOT a networking product.

You've got options. The kit is probably your best choice, as the doing the work yourself with DIY products does involve reading a bit and feeling comfortable with the technical pieces. Use this forum, and the sticky threads which describe the DIY products as a way of educating yourself. If you are not "getting it" then consider a kit from here:

and you won't need to worry about the details.

Before you ask any more basic questions, please consider the fact that most of that stuff has already been either asked/answered here before or is described in great detail in the product descriptions themselves. So please take a look around, use the "search" feature of the forum, read the release notes and instructions, etc before posting your questions.
