I had the same problem...
I bought all three CD's for 60 bucks including InstaCake. Wound up having to send the unit back to Tivo and pay. I can't understand what happened but I think the core Tivo system can tell sometimes when you are screwing around with the hard disk and it goes inot some kind of hacker mode shutdown. After doing all of the Instacake stuff mine just sat there forever saying Welcome! Powering up...
for days...
It's blue. Just plain blue. UGH!
I don't have a PC, so I had to have a from work image my drive for me. He used all the directions... thought the messages when it was baking were cute... said everything went fine. I tend to believe him, after all, he has been earning his living with all sorts of software, hardware and gadgets for the last 10 years. He has a good broad base of knowledge on at least 4 OS and has been running his own server since the days of Mosaic browser...
I took my precious drive home, installed it in the waiting TiVO, and.....
Blue.
just blue.
there is a red light and a green light on the tivo.
it isn't any fun watching blue, or red and green.
no start up.... no nothing.
(i can hear it purring quietly..... but nothing else.)
